Why a membership and not a ticket?

Octocon uses a membership system, as it is run by members for members. So you are not just buying an entry ticket, you are becoming a member of the Octocon community. This means you get input to the convention, from suggesting events and programme items as well as taking part in programme yourself. You also get year-round access to our online content and events.

• Early bird rates for Attending and Concession attending members: discounted by €10.
  Maximum of 30 Attending and 15 Concession memberships available, so act fast!
• Online-Only Concession rate of just €10 for access to our online Octocon weekend plus all online events throughout the year.
• This year you will need to register your email address with our system before you purchase membership. Make sure to check your spam / junk folder if the registration emails don’t appear in your inbox.

Our Membership Levels

All types of membership except for Child and Supporting give you access to Octocon Online as well as any member-only online events during the year.

You can upgrade your membership via the Member Portal to any higher-priced membership.

Day memberships for attending in-person will be available in late spring.

Weekend rates

• Attending – €80 / €70 early bird (30 max): This offers full access to Octocon, both online and in person.
• Concession – €50 / €40 early bird (15 max): A discounted attending access rate for all to whom it applies such as OAPs, students, unwaged, etc. No proof of entitlement required.
• YA (Young Adult) – €25: A special full access rate for 13-21 year olds.
• Child (under 13) – Free: In-person only. Must be accompanied by an attending adult (18 or over).
• Online Only – €20: This offers access to Octocon Online.
• Online Only Concession – €10: A discounted online access rate for all to whom it applies such as OAPs, students, unwaged, etc. No proof of entitlement required.
• Supporting – €15: A supporting membership helps Octocon exist but no longer gets you any special benefits other than the right to attend the AGM. 
  A Supporting membership can work as a deposit on your future membership if you’re not sure if you’ll be able to attend in person or online. 
• Friend – €100: Our highest rate of membership offers full access to everything,  both in person and online.
  It also offers the opportunity to give back to Octocon and help keep our prices down for others who might not be able to attend otherwise. 
  You will also receive a named thanks in the programme book.

Refunds are available under mitigating circumstances at the Convention’s discretion, on a case-by-case basis only. If you are unable to attend Octocon, you may transfer your membership to another person. Email to arrange this transfer.
